Beautiful Michigan: Holland and "Big Red"

We also were able to stop in Holland State Park and visit the Holland Harbor Lighthouse, otherwise known as "Big Red."
The first thing I realized was that Frances was having nothing to do with beach sand. She didn't mind walking on the pavement, but she wanted nothing to do with moving water, or with sand. So I let her run up and down the pier, which she enjoied quite a bit.
It took a minute or two for her to warm up to things, but she quickly enjoied running up and down the pier.
She stops all the time and asks "Whats this?" Apparently, she'd never seen a life preserver...
Look at that smile, and at those beautiful teeth...
Since she would have nothing to do with walking on beach sand, I put her on this picnic table, and she got a big kick out of it. This way, I was able to get some pictures of her with the lighthouse in the background.

And if you turn the other way, Lake Michigan is in the background...
And this is where I ran out of film and took her home.

Love the big smiles (and the good looking teeth!).
AA didn't like beach sand at first either, but soon decided if she was going to get to run free in a big wide open space, she was going to have to get used to it. Now she doesn't care (as long as it is not burning hot, then I get to carry her to the water's edge).
Loved catching up on the series of Frances poses! She's adorable. Enjoy your summer!
